ROBUST AND COMPACT - DISC PACK COUPLINGS FROM R+W
Heavy duty, torsionally rigid and maintenance-free steel disc pack couplings from R+W are used for misalignment compensation and transmission of high torque loads. They can be used in many different applications, such as steel mills, printing machinery, centrifugal pumps, and test rigs, to name a few areas of mechanical engineering.
R+W disc pack couplings are equipped with stacks of shims made of highly elastic spring steel. Each disc package can compensate for an angular bend during rotation while remaining highly stiff in the lateral direction as well as in the direction of rotation. This allows the couplings to support radial loads in their single flex configurations, and to compensate for lateral misalignment when used in dual flex configurations. The couplings provide backlash-free torque transmission through the use of high strength screws that clamp the disc pack faces and transmit torque via pure friction force. This prevents micro-movements between the mounting screw and the disc packs to enhance overall rigidity and reliability. R+W disc pack couplings can also be equipped with ball-detent clutches to disengage and prevent machine damage in case of torque overloads.
